Our small Christian school has a basketball team (my son is the kid in blue & white above). We have a "young" team, and although the boys play with so much heart, they often lose ... They do truly have good time and try hard. Sometimes it just seems like we play among giants ...
Basketball is mandatory for 7th-12th grade boys at our school or else we probably wouldn't have a team at all! It is also considered part of the PE curriculum. It suits my son just fine - he likes basketball. This year he is in 7th grade, so mostly, he is just a bench warmer during games and trying to get "in shape" and understand the game better. He does have 2 years of Upward basketball under his belt.
Occasionally there is a Junior Varsity game he gets to play in - but usually, he just has to wait until the end of a varsity game to get a few minutes of playing time, if at all. This is just the progession of basketball - he's got to bide his time. He's got to work his way up the ranks ... wait his turn.
Our last game of this season was on Tuesday ... and our boys had a nice lead by the end of the game!! What a nice way for our 2 Seniors to go out with a WIN! :) The JV boys got to play during the last few minutes - and Andrew even scored 2 points! :) What a nice way for him to finish up his 7th grade basketball career as well.
