For the German Girls / Fuer die Deutschen Maedels:

I will begin my blog in English - but at the end will attempt my first blog post partially IN GERMAN!!!  If you don't speak German, you can always use Google Translate to see what I'm writing!  ;)

I have been so happy to have some contact to German bloggers and am thrilled to see some traffic from GERMANY on my own blog.

I really want to retain my German language skills and keep in touch with what is going on in Germany (even though I haven't been there since 2005. :(  I miss it SO MUCH!!  I am saving pennies to go back ... but at this rate, it will be 2050 before I can afford to take my family back "home" to Germany).

Growing up, I spent every summer with my mother's parents in Germany (with my Opa and my Oma, the ultimate Hausfrau!) and my biological father who lived down the street from them.  Some of the BEST memories of my childhood were made in Germany.

Below is me and my Oma - sometime around 1980 at my grandparents' garden hut.  My Oma bought me this German traditional outfit (called a dirndl).  I lived in it that summer:

That same summer, my grandparents arranged for the 3 of us to spend a week at a German farm in the Odenwald, a forest region outside of Frankfurt.  My father drove us there in his traditional VW "Bug" (Kaefer).  I have to laugh at this picture of my father - he was SO "cool" wasn't he!!  hee hee!!! 

Ich bin in Deutschland geboren ... bzw Frankfurt/Main.  Meine Eltern haben sich bald nach meiner Geburt geschieden. :(   Mit 4 Jahre alt bin ich mit meiner Mutter und ihren neuen Amerikanischen Ehemann (ein bald-pensionierten Soldat) nach Amerika ausgewandert.  Ob wohl ich in Amerika "aufgewachsen" bin, war ich jeden Sommer in Deutschland bei meinen Grosseltern u. Vater.  Das ging von der Zeit das ich 6 Jahre alt war bis ich 20 J. war u. schon bei der Uni war.  Meine Mutter und Stiefvater ("Dad") waren in der Zeit auch 3 Jahre in Deutschland (Grafenwoehr) stationiert als ich im College war, da mein Dad fuer den Staatsdienst gearbeitet hat (fuer die Armee). 

Wie meine Mutter, habe ich auch einen Soldat geheiratet.  Von Januar 1996 bis Januar 1999 waren wir auch in Deutschland stationiert ... in der schoenen Stadt Wuerzburg.  Nun sind die Armee Tage schon laengst fuer uns vorbei u. mein Mann ist Schuldirektor bei einer kleinen, privaten, Christliche Schule (schon 6 Jahre lang!). 

Das ist also meine "Geschichte" ... Wie gesagt, ich war dem letzten Mal in 2005 in Deutschland zu besuch.  Ich sehne mich so sehr fuer meine "Heimat" ob wohl ich schon laengst "Amerikanerin" bin.  So mit versuche ich den Kontakt zu halten durch Telefongespraeche mit den wenigen Verwandten, die ich in Deutschland noch habe, u. halt auch durch Internet.  Ich freue mich, dass ich jetzt etlich Deutsche "Followers" habe - und moechte eure Blogs auch besuchen.  Ich bin schon oft bei Katja, aber will auch noch wissen, wer noch ein Blog hat u. wo ich Kontakt zu Deutsche Frauen haben kann - besonders mit Muetter und auch Christliche Frauen.  Bitte schreibe ein "Comment" wenn ihr mir helfen kann!!  Ich freue mich ...
