SNOW DAYS

So, the BIG BLIZZARD of 2011 was predicted for this week ... I'm not quite sure that we got as much snow and ice as was predicted for our area - but it has been enough that everything shut down since Monday evening - and we haven't had school Tuesday, Wednesday, nor will we go tomorrow (Thursday).

For me personally it was a blessing because I was sick on Tuesday with a cold, cough, and fever.  Dan was able to take care of the kids while I rested.   Hopefully the days off will do everyone some good as so many from school and church have been sick lately.

I've enjoyed our unexpected "winter break" ... It will be hard to send everyone back to school some day ... Miriam especially has gotten used to having a full staff at her beck and call these last few days!  :)  And speaking of our little girl - she has changed so much all of a sudden.  Tonight she was actually RUNNING along the edge of the couch and giggling about her new found mobility.  She also climbed up ALL OUR STAIRS by herself (with me hovering behind her, of course!!).  Andrew & Anna's rooms are upstairs ... and NOTHING is safe any more.  :)

I can remember wishing my kids could walk so I didn't have to carry them everywhere. It's true once they can get around on their own there is so much to explore the don't seem to demand as much time, but that time is taken up making sure they don't get into stuff they shouldn't. We had lots of baby gates. This made it a little difficult for adults who had to climb over or remove them, but in the long run they were a blessing and probaby kept my children alive instead ingesting some sort of cleaning chemical.

We have lots of snow too, but the schools only closed for one day... yesterday and I still had work. The roads were snow covered but with studded tires we're able to get around without too much trouble.

I didn't see any vehicles off the road till this morning. Taking my neighbor to work at the sawmill there was a logging truck off the side. He had help there and looked like he'd be out soon.

Happy snow days and I hope you get rid of the cold "lickety split".
