Going to the beauty shop - to me - is like going to a therapy session. After years of never having a stylist I really liked, I found one that I love love love. So much so that after every appointment, I hug her. My hairdresser is the nicest person - remembers things about me - asks about my family. AND she gives the best scalp massages - I mean, the kind that could put you to sleep with a big sigh. We laugh, we cry - seriously, she is GOOD at what she does. You leave feeling beautiful and relaxed and some how soul-cleansed. That's why I have a "hair - clothes - misc" envelope in my cash-only-budget because I *must* see this woman on a regular basis.
So, not only did I get some much-needed beauty treatment today, I also got a 3 hour mommy-break! I really have never had much need for a babysitter since my kids go to school, and my husband and I rarely do the "date night" thing (even though at one stage in our marriage we thought we'd try it - but we just forget to set things up) ... However, recently a sweet family from our church moved into our neighborhood. We were both so excited and all about "We HAVE TO get together" and "Call me if you need anything - eggs, sugar, a babysitter" ... and
until now, neither of us took the first step. But I finally asked if they could watch Miriam while I went to get my hair done. This is a home-schooling family so the 2 girls/daughters were home to help - and their mom told me that they were actually counting down the hours until "Miriam comes over". How sweet. Obviously, Miriam was very loved and well taken care of while she was there. I can't begin to say how THANKFUL I am to have someone so close by that will take such good care of my baby. What a blessing! And aren't these 2 girls with my MiMi THE CUTEST! They are as sweet as they look.

So happy to hear about your neighborly neighbors =) And, I think I need to make a trip to So.MO to visit your therapist, I mean hair stylist ;-) Might need a bigger budget for the gas?
As far as comments go, I'm glad you're doing something about it ;-) I get those weird things with links to who-knows-what, too. And I don't even have my blog available to search engines. How do they find me??
