Random, Useless Facts about Me

Since some of my bloggy friends are doing this exercise - and I can't let down Melanie by not meeting her expectation that I'd participate! - I am doing this too... If they jumped off a bridge, I'd jump too.

High heels or boots? I like both! I wear less & less high heels as time goes by, but I still love them! My mom loved high heels, & I was allowed to wear them fairly early (I still remember my strappy wedge heels from 7th grade!!). In college, I used to literally RUN across campus in heels (because I was always almost-late for class, of course) - and this was the late 80's/early 90's - we had pointy-toed heels back then too (which ruined my toes, btw)! I have 2 pairs of dress boots - one black & one brown - same style because I'm just so not creative enough to get 2 different styles (actually, it might have been a buy one, get one free sale!)

What time did you get up this morning? I got up around 8 a.m. I really didn't want to - but I knew the VA house appraiser was going to call. He never called but showed up on my doorstep at 8:30 so I was still in my jammies!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Diamonds or pearls? Diamonds, I suppose. Of course, there are the diamonds in my wedding set - and I usually wear a simple pair of diamond earrings each day if I'm not trying to "accessorize" (which these days is NEVER).

What is your favorite TV show? We're not big TV watchers ... if anything, my family watches DVDs or videos of old shows like Andy Griffith or I Love Lucy, Get Smart or F Troop. When I'm home alone, I sometimes have Food Network or HGTV going - sometimes I watch the Today Show or Kelly & Regis. OH - I do like Law & Order - Criminal Intent (?) when I can catch a re-run.


What do you usually have for breakfast? coffee (I used to NEVER drink coffee until I started working full-time - now I'm an official addict) and a poptart. I'm not big on breakfast - though I do love love love brunch with the works (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, etc etc)


What is your middle name? I don't have one!! Really. I've been asked if my middle name was NMI .... why? Because that's what I fill in on forms that ask for a middle initial (No Middle Initial).


What food do you dislike? #1 - LIVER, also brown rice, tofu, sweet potatoes, pumpkin

What is your favorite CD at the moment? "Sleep Sound in Jesus" by Michael Card

What characteristic do you despise? may I list about 10??! I'd say most of all - people who make great big, grand plans & then don't follow up. Or people who make promises & don't keep them. People who obligate a bunch of other people to fulfill their own agendas & who impose on others. Then, of course, there are the liars, the cheaters, the self-centered, the bad drivers ... Thank God for His mercy on us all, eh?!


Favorite clothing? my pj's! and any outfit that does not involve wearing panty hose.

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go? back to Europe!!

Are you an organized person? in my dreams I am!! I used to be very organized. Then I got married. Then I had kids.

Where would you like to retire to? my own bed. (<--I'm stealing Melanie's answer) ... --- no retirement plans for us --- but I'd love to retire in Tennessee; otherwise, I just look forward to HEAVEN! :)

What was your most recent memorable birthday?
My last bday was pretty good! I was pregnant & I've never been pregnant on my birthday before! :) My parents were here & got me a great cake & my fave ice cream. It was my last day of officially working at our church - and though I appreciated my job, I was sooooooo happy to be done & going back to being a SAHM. My next birthday (this year) is gonna be a big one - if just for me - I'm turning a certain age ending in "0" (and if you are thinking 3-0, thank you!!) ...

What are you going to do when you finish this?
Lord willing, put Miriam in her bed & sleep for about 5 or 6 hours at a stretch before being woken (awakened?) to nurse my baby girl & sleep another 2 or 3 hours.

Furthest place you are sending this? I'm not sure - sometimes Germany shows up on my site meter!

Person you expect to send it back first? I love stuff like this - so whoever would participate, it would be fun to read their answers. :)

When is your birthday? in November

Are you a morning person or a night person? DEFINITELY night person!!! I have always been that way, & I have tried to change into a morning person because society seems to prefer that ... but I can't do it. My internal clock is set to follow the moon, not the sun. It's too bad because my husband is a total morning person.

What is your favorite color? oh, I like so many colors - burgundy, green, blue, red ...

Do you own any animals? yep. 2 cats - Cinder & Ella. 1 stray cat who lives on our porch, Jack. And a dog I wished I didn't own - Penny! :)

Any new and exciting news you'd like to share: my life is so NOT exciting or new right now. I'm living my fondest dream - being a SAHM again ... but you already knew that.

What did you want to be when you were little? most of all, a mommy. I also thought I wanted to be a teacher or a stewardess (flight attendant in this politically correct world).

What is your favorite flower? I love spring flowers - tulips, crocuses - and pink roses - and Gerber daisies - and lilacs

What day on the calendar are you looking forward to:
Right now I just wish time would SLOW DOWN!!! My kids are growing up too fast. I realize there are nice things about having an "empty nest" - but I'm not ready. I'm not ready to have a teenager soon - maybe I will be when it is time. I am sure I will be. Until then, I guess I'm looking forward to the day in May when school is out for the summer!

Do you wish upon stars? No, but I love to look at them.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be? I hate this question because I really just don't know - I mean, how do you determine what COLOR you are???

How is the weather right now? It was 50-something degrees today!!!! And may be 60 by Sunday - spring may be springing??!

Last person you spoke to on the phone? my mom & dad

Favorite soft drink? I know it is so bad for me - but - DIET COKE (preferably with lime)

Favorite restaurant? Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, a good steakhouse

Hair color? brown-ish

What was your favorite toy as a child? I loved loved loved my Barbies.

Summer or winter? summer. definitely.

Chocolate or vanilla? chocolate. definitely.

Coffee or tea? both!

Favorite food of all time? oh my ... I love so many foods - a juicy steak, a German schnitzel, Greek souvlaki, Chinese food, Italian or Mexican food - dessert - chocolate.

When was the last time you cried? I get a little weepy almost every day any more - especially when I think about how gracious God has been to me! This is a new sensation for me as I am NOT a crier - but so much touches my heart any more - other's pain, my children, my husband, God ...

What is under your bed? lots of rubbermaid under-the-bed boxes
What are you afraid of? cancer.
Salty or sweet? both at different times - though sweet usually wins.

Best quality you have? that's hard for me to answer. I'm not good at much ... perhaps at being a home-body!! :) I like to think I am good at getting along with almost any one - or at least being nice to almost anyone.

How many years at your current job?
Since I still work from home some for my church, I will say that I've worked for the church since August 2004, I think.

Positive or negative?
I tend to be negative - I call it being "realistic" ... thankfully, I married an eternal optimist!


Do you like finding out all this stuff about your friends? I do! I don't get out much any more (which is totally self-inflicted, so don't feel sorry for me!), so connecting with people through blogs & email & facebook is about all the social interaction I get. :)
