Blessed Be the Name of the LORD

After God allowed Satan to take away all of Job's wealth and children, Job made a statement that is amazing:
"...the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21.
The Bible follows up his statement by saying that in all this, Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. Wow - what a testimony of complete trust in God.

God gives good gifts ("every good and every perfect gift is from above" - James 1:17); and God takes away ("precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" - Psalm 116:15).

Today I can't help but think of both sides. We received word this morning that Dan's sweet Grandmother Sorensen passed away around 9:00 a.m., surrounded by her 2 daughters - and was reunited with her husband who died in 2003 - and best of all, was able to meet her Savior face-to-face!

As one soul enters heaven, another soul in our family is waiting to be born on earth - our tiny baby, due in January! And so goes the cycle of life and death. Dan has asked me if we have a girl, if we can honor his grandmother by using her name (Inez) as a middle name for her. While it is not an easy name to work with, I am glad of the godly heritage that it represents.

Through the good and the sad, we can all surely say BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
