Back from the Big City

In the last 3 days, Dan and I were in Kansas City at the Mid-American Association of Schools (MAACS) Educator's Conference. This is the 5th conference we have been able to attend (we attended our first one in February of 2004, before Dan even left active duty, as he was contemplating taking the job of school administrator).

I, of course, am not a teacher, unless you count my little German class of 3 students and my occasional reluctant sub-teaching. Despite that, I still always am reminded of the privilege - and heavy responsility - of being a small part of our school's ministry, and even beyond that, of being a faithful Christian, mother, and wife. I took many notes, and as I look over them in the next days, perhaps I will record some of my thoughts here.

Tonight I am thankful that we were able to get out of town - and unexpectedly without kids! It was a refreshing, convicting, insightful, relaxing, motivating time away. The speakers were excellent, the workshops I attended were good for the most part, and the FOOD we had along the way was pretty great too ;) I hope we, as a staff, can hold on to this feeling of renewed vision for a long time, that maybe God will help us make some permanent and lasting changes - in us, in our school, in the lives of our students.
