It's Beginning to Look A Lot like Christmas...is over!

The tree is down; the decorations are piled on my dining room table, waiting to be put into their rubbermaid containers; and the 3-variety popcorn tin is almost empty. Yep, the holidays are winding down.

I have to admit, after getting over my initial disappointment that we were NOT going to go away for a few days (aside from going to Dan's parents), I was glad that we spent this whole week AT HOME. We got so much done - and that feels GOOD! Not only did I get Andrew's room done, aside from his new backordered quilt, I am well on my way to getting some things transitioned in Anna's room. She is getting a "new" bed to replace the kids' bunk bed, probably tomorrow!
My parents gave me my Oma's bed for Anna! (my Oma was my mom's mom, my German grandmother)
It is a German bed, obviously - bigger than a twin but smaller than a full-size bed. Not only is it sentimental that it is my Oma's bed - but it is the same bed I slept in every summer, growing up, when I went to Germany to stay with my grandparents!
The bed is oak, but I painted it white today; here are the headboard & side boards, drying in my garage:
And this is ME - in that very bed!! Well, you can't really see the bed itself - but my Oma had THE BEST bed with over-sized, square, European pillows & a light duvet/feather bed (I think I was 12 in this picture - I had braces so that is my point of reference):
And me again -(excuse my bare, skinny legs):
The other thing my parents recently gave me is a mirror that hung in my Opa's room (Opa=grandpa). I also painted it white - for Anna's room. It is drying in my garage right now too:

This is a picture of me & mom - July 1986 (I was 15) - it was the day of my Opa's funeral :( but anyway, behind us, you can see the (then-gold-colored) mirror thru the doorway which led into my Opa's room:

What a blessing to have these precious pieces of furniture for my own daughter! I'm so THANKFUL that my parents have passed them on to me and my family.
